Marc E. Bassy may be a rising pop/hip-hop/R&B star, but he’s not some young upstart who’s just getting going. In a genre where his peers just might be teenagers, Bassy is a seasoned veteran who’s been through multiple music-industry cycles, first as lead singer of pop band 2AM Club, and then as a songwriter for hire, working with artists including Sean Kingston and Wiz Khalifa.

Now that he’s finally in the solo spotlight, he’s more than ready for fame. He’s had hit singles collaborating with G-Eazy (“You & Me”) and Hailee Steinfeld (the remix of “Plot Twist”), and he released full-length debut album Gossip Columns last October.

“I learned that patience is a virtue,” Bassy told Billboard. “At the end of the day, all you can do is put your best foot forward, and worry about the quality of your music.” That patience has paid off: After a shortened co-headlining tour with Bebe Rexha last year, Bassy is now playing his first set of solo headlining gigs. With new music already in the works, Bassy is set to make the most of his overdue overnight success.
