Catch a part of the British Invasion this week at Golden Nugget when Eric Burdon and The Animals jump onstage. The band may be best remembered for probably the most famous version of “The House of the Rising Sun,” which many music experts call the first folk-rock hit, considered to be a classic of British pop.

Other hits from the band include “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” “We Gotta Get Out of This Place,” “Inside Looking Out,” “San Franciscan Nights” and “See See Rider,” to name a few.

Frontman and leader of the pack is Burdon, whose voice has been described as a deep, gritty, blues rock tone. Combining this recognizable sound with the musical talents of all the band members, the total effect is to deliver music that ranges from psychedelic rock to rhythm and blues.

The original group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and in 2003 their version of “The House of the Rising Sun” made Billboard’s 500 Greatest Songs of all time … ranking No. 123.
