Gabriel Iglesias has a lot to be excited about these days. In September, he films his new Netflix special One Show Fits All. His voice-acting talents will be featured in the upcoming animated film Blazing Samurai, based on the Mel Brooks classic comedy Blazing Saddles.

And then there is this. The 42-year-old comic is, year after year, one of the best-selling live comedy acts in the world. No matter what, people are drawn to him. This is the man many call “Fluffy,” based on a concept that launched Iglesias into stardom with his 2009 special, Gabriel Iglesias: I’m Not Fat… I’m Fluffy. He is still able to harness a potential negative and turn it into a relatable positive nearly a decade later.

The Fluffy brand has T-shirts, scarves and DVDs. There was The Fluffy Movie from 2014 which was one of the few standup comedy concert films ever released in theaters. He even has a food show on Fuse called Fluffy’s Food Adventures.

Iglesias has found all of this success for two reasons: He’s funny and he’s likable. This is evident every time he plays to a sold-out crowd, which seems to be every time he has a show.
