The delay of the release of Fall Out Boy’s latest album Mania by four months may have diminished the album's chart impact or fan interest, but it hasn’t stopped the Chicago pop-punks from filling seats or stoking anticipation for future live dates. The album hit No. 1 upon its release in January, eight months after lead single “Young and Menace” made its debut, but Fall Out Boy was well into its latest tour by the time the new songs were all available as a set. By that time it was clear audiences were definitely happy to be able to hear “Sugar, We’re Going Down” and “Dance, Dance” live again.
The new album is a departure from the band’s last several studio efforts. Kanye West’s influence is apparent, and several songs wouldn't sound out of place on dance floors where Imagine Dragon remixes rule the night. Pete Wentz has aptly referred to the new music as a “palate cleanse,” but Fall Out Boy hasn’t cleansed its live sets of hits. Kicking off with “Disloyal Order of Water Buffalos,” the band blazes—Wentz’s bass literally shoots flames—through a set of nearly 25 songs on the latest tour leg, concluding encores with “Saturday” from 2003’s Take This to Your Grave.
