Greg Kihn and his Greg Kihn Band may have never had a No. 1 hit (although they got close in 1983, when “Jeopardy” climbed all the way to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100), but Kihn can certainly hang his hat on two notable achievements: 1) He and the Greg Kihn Band have enjoyed a prolific recording and touring career that dates back to 1976, and 2) he’s the undisputed king of the album pun.
It all started when Kihn—whose band has churned out 19 studio albums, including one per year from 1976-’86—titled his third release Next of Kihn. Three years later came Rockihnroll, followed by Kihntinued, Kihnspiracy, Kihntagious, Citizen Kihn, Unkihntrollable, Kihn of Hearts, True Kihnfessions, Kihnplete and the band’s most recent effort, 2017’s Rekihndled.
Besides the “punny” names, each of those albums (and others) contain another common trait: catchy pop-rock songs that continue to delight fans at live shows across the country. Guess you could say they appreciate the band’s Kihnsistency.
