Both Dave Attell and Jeff Ross, pictured, are worthy attractions on their own. The comedians have been headlining clubs throughout the country for at least two decades a piece now. The former is considered a “comedian’s comedian” while the latter is known as “The Roastmaster General.” Attell is a whip-smart writer who hits so quickly with his lethal punchlines that the audience must be ready at any moment. Ross is more laid back, loves crowd work and, in particular, crushing patrons with his modern-day Don Rickles-esque insults.

When the two are together onstage, they create a spontaneous magic as can be seen in their Netflix show Bumping Mics, which was a surprise hit, at least to Attell. The two riff off each other, with Ross often taking the lead and Attell wisely picking his spots with material they’ve each cultivated through the years. They also slay the crowd by roasting them, and usually have a special guest they bring onstage to mix things up with.

The secret ingredient to these shows is how much Attell, 54, and Ross, 53, enjoy playing off each other. Sometimes there is nothing better than when the performer is surprised. Attell and Ross always keep each other, and the audience, on their toes.
