Rock bands Enanitos Verdes (from Argentina) and Hombres G (from Spain) are two of the biggest names in Spanish-language rock music, and both groups have been going strong for decades, releasing albums and touring the world since the early 1980s. Enanitos Verdes were the first band from Argentina ever to sign with a U.S. record label, and Hombres G were often swarmed by Beatles-style mobs of fans in their early days. Both bands took brief hiatuses in the ’90s, but since reuniting, they’ve settled into their places as elder statesmen of rock en español.

The two groups first teamed up for a U.S. tour last year, performing separate sets of hits and then joining together onstage to collaborate on each other’s songs. For Enanitos Verdes, those hits include “Aún Sigo Cantando,” “Guitarras Blancas” and “Amores Lejanos,” and Hombres G’s biggest singles include “Devuélveme a Mi Chica,” “Marta Tiene Un Marcapasos” and “Suéltate El Pelo.” Some of those songs have been popular favorites for 30 years or more, and the fans who first discovered these two bands as teens are now parents, ready to share the music with a new generation. That’s a testament to the lasting impact of two truly pioneering acts.
