When Colombian singer Fonseca was beginning his career, he received a boost from some of the biggest stars in Latin music, with endorsements from Colombian superstars Shakira and Juanes, both of whom invited Fonseca to open for them after the release of his self-titled debut album in 2002. Fonseca has gone on to become an international star himself, placing singles and albums on Billboard’s Latin and tropical charts in the U.S., and racking up four wins and 10 nominations at the Latin Grammys. As he tours the world with his music, he works to promote Colombia and Colombian culture, seeing himself as an ambassador for the home that supported him so enthusiastically when he was just starting out.

Fonseca’s hit songs including “Te Mando Flores,” “Eres Mi Sueno” and “Arroyito” have transcended boundaries, and he continues to expand his audience globally. His most recent album, 2018’s Agustin, was named after his newborn son, and it features a variety of sounds, from pop-rock and ballads to traditional vallenato. “Compiling the songs I have and putting them together under a single name marks a stage in my life,” he told Billboard about the album’s personal significance. That humble gratitude informs every step of his career.
