The name of the water-themed Cirque du Soleil show “O” (Bellagio, 702.693.8866) makes a lot more sense when you realize it’s pronounced like the French word for “water.” “O” could also stand for “Olympians,” as in you’ll be seeing Olympic-caliber athletes displaying the delicate artistry Cirque shows are known for.

These performers’ feats of strength revolve around the wonder of water, as acts take place in, adjacent to and above a huge pool of water. While synchronized swimming might be expected in a water-themed show, the skill and organization is amazing. Elaborately costumed swimmers disappear and reappear seamlessly in the pool with incredible precision.

If you think synchronized swimmers are fun, imagine synchronized contortionists. This coordination is mirrored in aerial acts such as a unique tandem trapeze duo who defy gravity. Parallel bars are more impressive when performers flip around them while suspended high above water. The element of water kicks everything up a notch, making acts like hand balancing all the more impressive.

While the clowns and other artists on the stage entertain your eyes, the artists in the wings hypnotize your ears with an engrossing live soundtrack. “O” refreshes all your senses with the power of water.
