The last time John, Paul, George and Ringo were in the same room recording music together as The Beatles, it was for their classic album Abbey Road, which turned 50 last month. It’s hard to imagine it’s been that long since the group’s separation, but even after all that time, the group remains relevant and their legacy lives on in Cirque du Soleil’s The Beatles LOVE. And the songs of Abbey Road are prevalent in LOVE’s soundtrack, from the haunting harmonies of “Because” to popular George Harrison songs “Something” and “Here Comes the Sun,” as well as many other hits within The Beatles’ catalog. The remixes and mashups of those songs alone would make any diehard Beatles fan giddy, but even if you are not a fan of the Fab Four, there’s something in the way Cirque juxtaposes the LOVE soundtrack with athletic and acrobatic feats that makes The Beatles appealing to everyone.
