Breaking the Internet with TV
Comedian Daniel Tosh is back in the swing of things, touring through the western states to wrap up 2019 before heading to Australia for the first time to kick off the new year.
Meanwhile on TV, the 11th season of his groundbreaking Comedy Central series Tosh.O finished up this month, a show that debuted in the summer of 2009 and was originally scheduled for just a 10-episode run. His sarcastic and satirical commentary on viral video clips connected the internet, TV and comedy in a fresh way and he’s been breaking ratings records ever since.
You can catch the live version of Tosh’s uncommon sense of humor when he steps onstage at The Mirage’s Terry Fator Theatre Nov. 1-2.
Must-See: Cardi B
Hip-hop chart-topper Belcalis Almánzar, better known as Cardi B, has been bringing the Bronx to Las Vegas all summer long after inking a deal as one of the very first resident artists at the 100,000-square-foot, indoor/outdoor megaclub KAOS at the Palms. Now she’s back for a frightfully huge Halloween party. Oct. 31 marks the reopening of KAOS with its “Demon Dome,” a 70-foot-high enclosure that transforms the club’s swimming pools and luxury cabanas into a year-round, climate-controlled party venue. The Palms couldn’t have picked a bigger star to re-start the party: Even as Cardi took some time away from music to vacation with rapper hubby Offset, she continued to make headlines with sexy social media posts.
Around the Strip
Former and future Las Vegas Strip headliner Shania Twain was at The Cosmopolitan recently to take in the comedic space odyssey Opium. The pop country queen’s presence comes as no surprise; she told me during a recent interview that she fell in love with the city during her residency at the Colosseum from 2012 to 2014 and she currently enjoys going to shows, eating at different restaurants and going to Vegas Golden Knights hockey games. You can read that interview soon in Las Vegas Magazine and you can see Twain in her new residency, Let’s Go!, opening Dec. 6 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort.
Somnium Wine proprietor and retired professional racing driver Danica Patrick hosted a wine dinner at Marche Bacchus French Bistro and Wine Shop before her speaking engagement at this year’s Global Gaming Expo. Guests enjoyed tastings from the Somnium Vineyards in Napa, Calif., before and during a four-course dinner including strawberry pistachio salad and pan-seared Arctic char.
Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality star Lisa Vanderpump served as the grand marshal in the Las Vegas Pride parade in downtown Las Vegas and also appeared at the official Pride Poolside Afterparty at Venus Pool & Lounge at Caesars Palace the following Sunday. She partnered with Caesars to open Vanderpump Cocktail Garden earlier this year, a swanky bar that feels like an extension of her successful L.A. restaurants Sur and Pump.
