Summer’s Last Stand

If it seems like summer is never really over in Las Vegas, the fantastically fun concerts at Mandalay Bay Beach may be to blame. The seasonal series closes out this week with the Oct. 4 show from Southern California alt-rockers Dirty Heads, a reggae-infused act using this Vegas date to kick off a new November tour in support of seventh studio album Super Moon.

OC Weekly magazine called the new collection the band’s most groundbreaking work to date and a series of videos on the Dirty Heads Facebook page gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the latest tunes. Hit the beach and decide for yourself if anthems like “Lift Me Up” and “Fear & Love” can hang with Heads hits “Lay Me Down” and “My Sweet Summer.”

Must-See: Blanc de Blanc

Stylish and sexy, sophisticated and sometimes silly, Blanc de Blanc is a great addition to the new vibes at the Sahara Las Vegas. The recently renamed resort on the north end of the Strip is finding new life as a comfortable blend of old and new Las Vegas, and this humor-spiked variety show is bringing plenty of energy to fuel an exciting transition. Starring the dashing Monsieur Romeo and his odd sidekick Spencer, Blanc de Blanc brings aerial acrobatics, modern burlesque, physical comedy and various styles of dance to the stage Thursday through Monday in a fast-paced free-for-all that doesn’t stop until audience members are participating in a wild hot tub party. It’s all attitude with plenty of champagne to go around.

Around the Strip

Among the many blockbuster concerts that took place on the Strip over Mexican Independence Day weekend, the final shows by Bruno Mars at Park Theater closed out a residency the same way it was started: sold out. The final tally was 26 sold-out shows at the sizzling-hot Park MGM venue for Mars, before, during and after his 24K Magic World Tour. That’s a run to remember.

More concert talk: At One Republic’s tour stop at the Pearl at the Palms, frontman Ryan Tedder disclosed that the band has been working on its next album in Vegas at the Studio at the Palms. That’s where the group’s first hit was recorded, 2006’s “Apologize.”

Houston Rockets star James Harden, his teammate Russell Westbrook, superstar entertainer Jamie Foxx and Canadian artist and music producer PartyNextDoor were among the faces in the crowd for Drake’s most recent set at XS Nightclub.

Park MGM has once again created the hottest new nightspot on the Strip. This time it’s Mama Rabbit, the mezcal and tequila bar and lounge co-created by L.A. restaurateur Bricia Lopez. The colorful and cool venue between On the Record and Best Friend celebrated its grand opening with a Friday night party hosted by TV’s Mario Lopez.

That ’70s Show actor Wilmer Valderrama dined with Latin recording artists Maluma and Prince Royce at Beauty & Essex at The Cosmopolitan on the same night Marquee resident performers Travis Scott and Sheck Wes were in the house.
