The latest album from Latin pop star Prince Royce is titled Alter Ego, and that’s an accurate reflection of how the singer has navigated different musical worlds since his debut album in 2010.

The Bronx-born Royce started his musical career with reggaeton, bachata and other Latin styles, with lyrics in both Spanish and English, and he’s continued to shift languages and genres. Royce has scored hits on Billboard’s Latin charts and nominations at the Latin Grammys while also making the main Billboard singles chart with “Darte un Beso,” “Stuck on a Feeling” and “Back It Up.”

With Alter Ego, Royce has delivered a double album divided into sections titled Genesis (Royce’s signature bachata sound) and Enigma (urban pop). It debuted at the top of Billboard’s Latin albums chart, and All Music called it “a mature document by an artist whose musical potential is realized with an expanded command of rhythm, melody, phrasing, and production.” It’s the latest expression of Royce’s ongoing musical evolution.
