Was there a moment any time in your career when you learned a life lesson and what was the outcome?

I have an interesting story. I was raised in the Mormon Church and most of my family are still active members. A few years ago I decided it wasn’t for me and after my divorce I decided to apply for Chippendales. When Chippendales offered me the job, I told my family that I’ll be moving to Vegas to be a performer. Most of my Mormon family stopped talking to me because of this career decision and for leaving the Mormon Church. But, I was tired of living an unhappy life. I was tired of constantly trying to make them happy. It was a very hard transition but I don’t regret my decision at all. I am so much happier and some of those Mormon family members have come around and reached out to me.

I learned that it’s your life and you need to do what makes you happy. Follow your dreams and chase after your goals and don’t care what people say or think even if they are family. I’ve met too many people that are in a career they hate or doing something else in life that they hate because their family pressured them. It was hard moving to a new city where I didn’t know anyone and losing a lot of my family members and support but I would do it all over again if I had to. Every decision I make in life is my decision. People will judge regardless, so pursue a life that makes you happy.
