It’s one thing to get to see one of your favorite Strip shows again; it’s an entirely different matter when you get the VIP treatment at said show.

Blue Man Group has long been a part of my life as a Las Vegas resident. I saw them for the first time at Monte Carlo (now Park MGM), and when they moved to The Venetian, I caught them there as well. They’re now ensconced as one of the anchor shows at Luxor, and I’ve been several times. Each iteration of their show has something different, small tweaks that show how hard they work to keep it fresh.

The recently added VIP experience is something megafans like me will definitely want to pony up for. As almost any Blue Man fan will tell you, having a drink during the show is practically a must. And you receive a food and drink voucher upon picking up your VIP package. Your night is already off to a perfect start, but the VIP experience is just beginning.

The show itself is unbridled fun, set to some of the most propulsive music you’ll hear on the Strip (all performed live). The three Blue Men prove that almost anything can be used as an instrument, from a stick that’s rapidly wobbled to a piece of PVC pipe. Even certain foods have musical properties (and, in the case of Twinkies, gumballs and marshmallows, visual properties).

The laughs come at a rapid pace here, many caused by the awkward silences as the Blue Men mentally digest the world around them. (Children throughout the audience often offer their unsolicited advice, which provides some of the show’s biggest, unscripted, laughs.) There’s audience involvement for sure, from one lucky volunteer who gets to have an “elegant” meal with the troupe to a moment where everyone stands and practices traditional concert moves from “raise the roof” to “fist pump.”

The show is over for most, but the VIP experience keeps the enjoyment going. Another show employee came to collect me and my plus-one, escorting us backstage for a tour of what no one else gets to see: Where the Blue Men (and band members) rehearse, along with a corridor featuring some of the troupe’s Las Vegas highlights throughout the years. In addition to articles highlighting their success, we got to check out sketches of concepts, along with the actual executions of those sketches throughout the show’s storied Las Vegas history.

But they saved the best for last. As we concluded our tour, we were joined by the Blue Men we had just enjoyed onstage, who posed with us for photos. We were also given a bag full of Blue Men-themed goodies like a Luxor-shaped stress ball, blinking bracelet and a souvenir cup.

I could say more about this part of the experience, but trust me: If you’re a Blue Man fan, this is an offer you’ll want to take advantage of. Now.
