In music, an aria is an expressive melody performed by one voice within a larger, usually operatic work. In early forms arias consisted of simple melodies but developed into more purposeful structures as composition became more sophisticated, contrasting expositional passages with emotional displays of vocal talent. Such is the case with Aria, the 50-story, state-of-the-art hotel-casino that began as the centerpiece of CityCenter and became the Camelot of what is now the Aria campus.

Aria found new purpose as the area around it changed, becoming a prime place to stay for followers of entertainment and sports thanks to pedestrian proximity to T-Mobile Arena and Dolby Live. Neither venue was conceived when Aria opened in 2009 at the height of the Great Recession, but Golden Knights fans had a luxury option close to games during their debut season. Sky Suites provide them with incomparable high-altitude views of the Strip and Vegas Valley due to floor-to-ceiling windows.

Artwork integrated into design was a major feature, as was a stellar slate of restaurants that surely influenced five-star ratings from AAA and Forbes. Jean-Georges Vongerichten has a steakhouse, Michael Mina presents French cuisine at Bardot Brasserie, Julian Serrano Tapas serves up shared plates and Lemongrass has been a Thai food destination on the Strip since serving its first order of Tom Kha soup.
