Put up your dukes! And wrap them around some chicken and corn while you let the performers in Tournament of Kings whisk you away to a bygone era.

Whether you’re headed to that age with your family or a group of friends, give yourself permission to let loose in a boisterous, slightly cheesy manner. (You are eating without utensils, for heaven’s sake!)

Like in medieval times, Tournament of Kings combines a communitywide celebration with contests of skill by a variety of knights, on horseback and in face-to-face combat. This tournament takes place in England, and King Arthur and his son Christopher preside. You are first given instruction by the jester and Merlin the magician on the proper manner of toasting with your stein (“Huzzah!”) and cheering on the king whose section you are seated in. Preceding the games, dancing ladies and knights party ’round the Round Table.

Jousting, swordplay, javelins and more show the skills of different nations. But soon, the evil fire wizard Mordred barges in on the show, leading his band of dragon knights in a full-fledged attack. Mordred’s pyrotechnic tricks create so much heat you can feel it in the stands!

Don’t worry! Evil does NOT win out, despite Mordred’s machinations.
