Jon Steinman is the man to know at Golden Nugget. As the director of guest services, he sees to it that the VIPs and high rollers receive that high-level of hospitality, but even just a regular guest gets the Steinman treatment—it’s all about making sure the guest feels taken care of.

More specifically, Steinman oversees limos, valet, self-park, the business center and the bell desk. “During busy times like NFR, conferences, F1, football season—it keeps me on my toes,” says the Las Vegas native. “Taking care of all the guests, making sure they’re getting where they need to go. I like to be within my different departments. I’m a very front line kinda guy. ... I came up in the grind, and I like to stay in the grind.”

Steinman is right, he did come up in the grind, working his way up in the industry. Over the years, at various properties across the Strip, he went from a linen attendant to linen supervisor, working in the call center and front desk to reaching the heights of managing hotel operations. Last year, he joined Golden Nugget.

“We have a great team,” he says. “At the end of the day, the communication here is done extremely well to the point of nothing skips a beat. This property is intimate. When you walk through our doors you’re not walking through these huge hotels that feel cold. Golden Nugget is a warm environment with that old-school hospitality. … It’s that true, caring feeling.”

Libation: Old Fashioned

Steinman suggests ordering his favorite cocktail, the Old Fashioned, at one of the property’s many bars and lounges. “It’s go-to and easy and tastes fantastic,” he says. Sip on a mix of Maker’s Mark, simple syrup and Daily’s soda water, garnished with an orange and cherry and served in a rocks glass.

Benefit: Ask valet about leaving your car “up.” For a low cost you can have your vehicle on display in the Gold Valet VIP spots.
