Many things make Las Vegas the best party town in the world. It has incredible nightclubs and dayclubs, but also people that help guests enjoy them. Enter Joseph Rivera, senior VIP marketing host for Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand. (He also hosts at Hakkasan and Jewel nightclubs.)
“Honestly, I just like to create memories for people coming to Vegas and celebrating,” Rivera says. “From the minute that my guest texts or calls me, I make sure I’m available. I give 24/7 service. From the minute they come to the door, it’s white-glove, red-carpet treatment.”
Rivera has more than a dozen years of experience in the nightlife and hospitality industries, getting his start in the Miami scene and moving to Vegas in 2019. “I knew one day I wanted to make my way to Las Vegas, it being the mecca for nightlife and entertainment,” he says.
The VIP host is an instant charmer. He’s hospitable, down to earth and makes you feel special and welcome from the moment you meet him—everything you could want in a host. “Being a part of my clients’ lives and celebrations—I think being a part of someone’s special moment, it’s a good feeling,” he says. “The best decision was to move to Vegas for my career. I was really able to shine and take off. Miami was a great scene, I learned a lot. But when I moved to Vegas, that’s what really sharpened my sword as far as hospitality goes.”

Palm Tree Beach Club offers beautiful, eye-catching specialty cocktails like the Bird of Paradise, served in a large copper flamingo. Serving multiple people, it’s mixed with Absolut Elyx vodka, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, lemon, strawberry-rhubarb rosé and a bottle of G.H. Mumm rosé, poured tableside.
