The word “selfie” was coined in the early 2000s, way before Facebook and Instagram came into play. It was eventually named “Word of the Year” by the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013. New York City-based electronic house duo The Chainsmokers (Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall) soon capitalized with the release of their catchy single “#Selfie,” which hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart in 2014.
Since then, they’ve released many other hits, including “New York City,” “Waterbed” and “Roses.” Put on your best outfit and take as many selfies as you wish while enjoying The Chainsmokers on May 21 at Jewel, Aria’s new nightlife hot spot. In addition to The Chainsmokers, Jewel has a slew of other acts to christen the luxurious venue this weekend, including Jamie Foxx on May 19 and Lil Jon on May 23.
