Eight decades and counting, the margarita remains one of the top-selling cocktails, so of course this drink deserves its own day. Celebrate the tequila-based cocktail on National Margarita Day on Feb. 22 by trying some of the city’s most delicious versions.

Start at Hussong’s Cantina at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place—this brand claims to be home of the original margarita, invented in its first location in Ensenada, Mexico, in 1941. It serves up a classic recipe in the Original Margarita, a mix of Jose Cuervo reposado, triple sec, agave nectar and lime juice. If you’re with your sweetie, order the shareable Romance Margarita, 64 ounces of Hornitos reposado tequila, triple sec, organic agave nectar, lime juice, strawberry purée, banana liqueur and Grand Marnier.

For one of the best margaritas in town (according to this writer who’s done the research), head to Sala 118 at The Venetian. Italian-inspired cocktails are the name of the game at this lounge, but the twist they put on the margarita works perfectly. The Margherita is a mix of The Venetian Select Paladar reposado tequila, Gajàrdo Arancia, Alpe Genepy Herbetet, prickly pear, lime and fresh oregano.

Javier’s at Aria offers more than a dozen twists on the classic margarita, and two of the most popular are the Margarita de Pina with reposado tequila, St-Germain, agave nectar, lime juice and pineapple, and the Margarita de Jalapeño with reposado tequila, St-Germain, agave nectar and lime and orange juices.

Catch unbeatable views while sipping on the Margarita’s Trip to Paris at Chéri Rooftop at Paris Las Vegas. With sightlines that include the Strip and the Bellagio fountains, this lounge beneath the Eiffel Tower offers a delish version of the margarita mixed with Casamigos blanco tequila, Cointreau, St-Germain elderflower, lime and orange.
