July 24 is National Tequila Day! The spirit, which is distilled from the blue agave plant (mezcal is distilled from agave plants as well), has been around in one form or another for about 250 years. On its designated day of recognition this year, you’ll find plenty of cool places in Las Vegas and special offers to celebrate your love of the spirit.
• At Proper Bar in Proper Eats Food Hall in Aria, enjoy two hours of bottomless handcrafted margaritas and tequila for $24. The special is available only for dine-in guests from 11 a.m. to closing.
• Stop into Chica at The Venetian Resort to experience the beverage program put together by Daniel Navarr, a Level 2 certified conocedor de tequila from the International Tequila Academy. The restaurant has 80 tequilas, 35 mezcals and cocktails like the Paleta with Monte Alban blanco tequila, mango, árbol chili, lime, agave and Tajín; and the Jalisco Old Fashioned with reposado tequila, mezcal, chocolate bitters and agave. And with the Chica Nights on Friday and Saturdays, you’ve got DJs, live entertainment, late night menus and more.
• To celebrate at Resorts World Las Vegas, head to ¡Viva! by Ray Garcia, where you can indulge in the House of Dragons cocktail, with Casa Dragones blanco tequila, Grand Marnier, lime, agave and salt. And at Wally’s Wine & Spirits, order Casa Dragones straight (the añejo barrel blend is a great sipping tequila), or try the spicy margarita, The Eiza, with Casa Azul blanco tequila, Aperol, Fresno chili, Tajín and Damiana liqueur.
• The Camarena family’s G4 Tequila takes the spotlight at Cabo Wabo Cantina at Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood from July24-26. For $10, try a specialty G4 margarita with G4 tequila blanco, lime juice, orange liqueur and agave; brand ambassadors will also pour G4 Tequila samples. And for $28.50, sip on a Santo Tequila flight featuring blanco, reposado and añejo tequilas, priced at $28.50. There are more special cocktail and activations from other brands; stop in to see!
• Amaya Modern Mexican at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas celebrates National Tequila Day with bottomless Flecha Azul tequila margaritas from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for $35 per person.
• At locals favorite farm-to-table restaurant Honey Salt in Summerlin, try the Peach & Pepper margarita, with tequila, peach, fresh lime, agave and jalapeño. Nice!
• Across the valley in Henderson, the Vegas outpost of Twin Peaks has several tequila-based cocktails (starting at $5!), like the Peaks margarita, $5; the Tequila Sunrise, $7; and barrel select margaritas, $7.
• Todo Bien in UnCommons in the southwest valley is celebrating Christmas in July through the end of the month, and one offering you might want to indulge in is the Christmas in the Tropics, with Lunazul blanco tequila, Vago mezcal lime juice, allspice, Curaçao and coconut for $17.
