You’d be hard-pressed to find a cocktail that still remains popular after more than eight decades, but the margarita has accomplished such a feat. Tequila, triple sec, lime and salt is the cocktail in its simplest form, but over the years bartenders have branched out and gotten creative with the recipe. In honor of the long-poured libation, National Margarita Day is celebrated on Feb. 22, but we say cheers all week long at the following hot spots that have some of the best versions in the city!

You’ll love the bites at Javier’s at Aria, classic and modern Mexican, but you can also just chill at the sizable bar area and order two of the most popular margaritas on the menu, margarita de pina and margarita de jalapeño. The margarita de pina is made with reposado tequila, St-Germain, agave nectar, lime juice and pineapple and is so sweet and fresh, and for a little kick try the margarita de jalapeño with reposado tequila, St-Germain, jalapeño, agave nectar, lime and orange juices.
Go to the spot that claims to be the bar that invented the margarita, Hussong’s Mexican Cantina. The original bar in Ensenada, Mexico, dates back to 1892 and in 1941 welcomed the German ambassador to Mexico and his daughter. The bartender whipped up a cocktail just for the daughter, and named the drink after her, Margarita. The outpost at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place offers the original margarita with Jose Cuervo Tradicional reposado tequila, triple sec, organic agave nectar and fresh-squeezed lime served in a pint glass. While there, also try the shareable Romance Margarita with Sauza Hornitos blanco and reposado, triple sec, organic agave nectar, fresh-squeezed lime juice, strawberry purée, banana liqueur and Grand Marnier.
If frozen and blended is more to your liking, El Segundo Sol at FSLV—Fashion Show Las Vegas has some of the best anywhere! Don’t pass up the frozen strawberry and the frozen mango margaritas—each uses fresh fruits and are absolutely, positively delicious. The best time to stop by is during happy hour (bar area only), where you can order both versions for only $6.50 each. Happy hour is 3-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
For more margarita happy hour goodness, stop into Uno Más Street Tacos & Spirits at SAHARA Las Vegas. Until 6 p.m. daily, you can sip on $5 margaritas—a steal! Make sure to pair it with $5 chips and salsa and an $8 cheese quesadilla.

Go cutesy and chic when you hit up Lisa Vanderpump’s first Las Vegas venture, Vanderpump Cocktail Garden, at Caesars Palace. (The TV star and restaurateur now has two more eateries in town and is aiming to put her name on a whole property on the Strip this year). While chilling in the bougie garden-esque setting, order the Vanderpink Margarita in honor of the holiday. Enjoy the blend of tequila, fresh lime, hibiscus, white peach and orange liqueur.
Celebrate Stripside on the patio of Cabo Wabo Cantina at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, a great people-watching hot spot. Rocker Sammy Hagar’s ode to Baja, Mexico, is known for its beachy vibes, live music, authentic eats and margaritas. The list of margarita recipes is long, so we suggest trying some of our faves, including: the S&S Smokey and Sweet margarita, made with mezcal, fresh lime, sour, agave nectar and fresh strawberry; mango margarita with Santo Blanco tequila, mango purée, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and sweet and sour; the margarita verde with Santo Blanco tequila, lime, fresh cucumber and cilantro; the Strawberita with Santo Blanco tequila, strawberry purée and lime juice; the Cocorita with Santo Blanco tequila, lime juice and créme of coconut, garnished with a rim of freshly toasted coconut; and the blood orange margarita with Tattoo blanco tequila, blood orange purée, lime juice and blood orange liqueur.
