As a reminder of home-cooked meals, comfort food serves as familiar offerings while traveling. While in Las Vegas, if you’re looking for something casual and accessible, then Serendipity 3 is the place for you.

Serendipity 3 is a cavalcade of sights and, more importantly, tastes. Come with an appetite, as the plates are as gargantuan as the flavors themselves. It’s simply difficult to not be enthralled by the jovial nature of the Las Vegas outpost of the New York institution where dining is made fun.

So where to start on the behemoth menu? I suggest with a trademark drink, the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. In case you haven’t had the pleasure, it’s essentially hot chocolate served frozen in a daiquiri-like consistency and, yes, it’s as good as it sounds. The drink is famous, but here in Las Vegas, the libation is elevated to another level; the Sin City version adds alcohol to the equation. With a touch of hazelnut from Frangelico or creamy Kahlua, you’ve got a fine accompaniment to any meal.

And what a meal you can have. On the appetizer side, the All-In Nachos are some of the Las Vegas Strip’s best renditions, smothering house-made tortilla chips with spicy ground beef, black beans and a Mexican cheese blend. Equally as memorable are the Spud-Niks—twice-baked and loaded with crispy bacon plus Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses. And Safe at Home wagyu sliders layer miniature American wagyu patties with American cheese atop an addictive bacon aioli—trust me that you’ll want more of that aioli when you’re done.

Entrée-wise, the menu runs the gamut from foot-long hot dogs—choices include a seriously huge chili/cheese dog and the LV Dog, topped with nacho cheese and jalapeños—and a selection of hamburgers to pork ribs with tangy barbecue sauce and decadent pastas.

While you can easily find yourself overwhelmed with the appetizers and entrées, do be sure to save room for a dessert or two. Willy Wonka would be proud of the spectacles here! Serendipity 3’s deep-fried Oreos and ice cream is exactly what it sounds like—battered, deep-fried Oreos perched atop scoops of cookies-and-cream ice cream and smothered in hot fudge and marshmallow sauce. The restaurant is so proud of this dessert, they’ve dedicated a deep fryer to the Oreos alone. It’s a commitment to decadence that is not to be missed.

Not in the mood for cookies? Then how about the Strawberry Fields instead? Cheesecake and strawberry ice cream are topped with strawberry sauce for a double dose of strawberries. The Forbidden Broadway combines a rich chocolate blackout cake with chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Come to think of it, served together, these two sundaes would make a mighty fine Neapolitan. Genius!

No matter what you decide upon, you’re guaranteed to leave Serendipity 3 full and happy. They wouldn’t have it any other way.
