One of the most beautiful areas of the country is also one of the most rugged—the Grand Canyon, which winds through the American Southwest. The canyon itself is huge, covering 1,900 square miles, and has several access points for viewing, including Grand Canyon West’s Skywalk, a relatively short drive from Las Vegas on Hualapai tribal lands.
At Hualapai Point, learn about the tribe and check out artifacts in the cultural center. Then at the Skywalk, enjoy one of the most unusual experiences you will ever have—seemingly floating over the Grand Canyon. A curved bridge hangs over the canyon with a walkway constructed primarily of glass, helping with that illusion. Underneath you, it’s thousands of feet down to the canyon floor. You can also catch amazing views while at Eagle Point and Guano Point, both historical areas.
There are plenty of other things that you will find to do in the area, with the town of Peach Springs providing a place to launch from. Try helicopter rides over the canyon, or ziplining through the rugged terrain. You can even float down the Colorado River on a pontoon boat. For a more exciting ride, try a whitewater adventure.
